Social enterprises are defined by Social Traders as “businesses that trade to intentionally tackle social problems, improve communities, provide people access to employment and training, or help the environment”.

We run three environmental repair social enterprises – Green Connect, Resource Recovery Australia and Soft Landing – to create jobs that care for people and planet.

Green Connect is a social enterprise based in Wollongong, NSW. We create jobs and employment pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people, young people and former refugees in work that helps the planet and the community.

We run a farm and an op shop, provide zero waste services at events, and staffing solutions to businesses and Councils. We also provide training and support so our team can use employment experience as a springboard to sustainable and fulfilling jobs and careers.

Resource Recovery Australia is a not-for-profit social enterprise that works in waste management to keep waste out of landfill, create jobs for people experiencing barriers to work, and to engage and connect people in our communities.

We operate reuse shops, transfer stations, weighbridges, landfills, community recycling centres, a Return and Earn Automated Depot, a problem waste mobile community recycling service, mattress deconstruction, expanded polystyrene processing, non-ferrous metal recycling, and community spaces and workshops.

RRA operates in NSW, QLD and the ACT across eight regions.

Last year we diverted 11,965 tonnes headed for landfill for recycling and reuse. .

Soft Landing is a national social enterprise that collects and recycles mattresses to keep waste out of landfill and create jobs for people experiencing barriers to work.

For every 23 mattresses that we collect and recycle each day, we create a job for someone who really needs one.

Soft Landing operates in NSW, Victoria, WA and the ACT across six sites.
